First year art students at Black Hills State University in Spearhead, South Dakota recently created life-sized self-portraits as bugs. Made from recycled materials, the giant bug creations lined the halls outside their professor’s art class.
Instructor Ann Porter said, “The bugs are more personal than you may initially think. They worked hard and came up with these riotously funny things.”
The giant bug art was made using old paper towel boxes, packing material and brightly colored soda containers, and coincides with “National Campus Sustainability Day,” a campus-wide event aimed at informing the community and campus students about what the university is doing to decrease its impact on the environment.
This fun project inspires us to ask the question, What would your bug self-portrait look like? For the full story, please visit the Rapid City Journal.
