House Mice Habits & Elimination
House mice are the most common rodents found in nooks, cracks, basements, attics, and floorboards of your home. House mice enjoy commercial establishments, open fields, farms, and desert climate where temperatures are moderate. Cold weather forces house mice from fields to shelter, in search of food and warmth. House mice originated from Asia and arrived in North America via European settlers. House mice are the most troublesome rodents in the United States and commonly found in the desert climate of Albuquerque.
House mice from nose to tail range from 7.5-10cm and a tail length of 5-10cm. Most house mice weigh between 10-25g and have a light grey to dark brown color. The ears and tail have very little to no hair. House mice have a pointy nose, protruding eyes, and large balloon-like ears. House mice can jump verticially up to 45cm and produce a high pitched squeak.
House mice like to mingle in kitchen cabinets where grains, seeds, or any other snacks can be found. House mice are known as “nibblers” and often create holes in food packaging and leave a trail of feces behind after a feeding.
